Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur monitoring Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba
Tottenham Hotspur and Premier League rivals Arsenal have been monitoring Bayer Leverkusen star Edmond Tapsoba, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
Sides from the English top flight are ‘tracking’ the centre-back ahead of the upcoming transfer window. The Burkina Faso international will be one to keep an eye on next summer.
In recent matches, Spurs and the Gunners have kept an eye on the 24-year-old. However, the race to acquire his services is open as things stand. But the Bundesliga giants want a significant sum for the defender.
Tapsoba signed for Leverkusen in the winter window of 2020 from Vitoria Guimaraes. Since then, the centre-back has been ever-present in the Bundesliga outfit’s starting lineup.
Over the years, the Burkinabe national has done well in Germany. This season under Xabi Alonso, the 24-year-old has made 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Arsenal gave Manchester City a run for their money in the PL title race this season. Mikel Arteta’s team were on top of the table for most of the campaign but slipped up after William Saliba’s injury.
As for Tottenham, we have been shaky at the back for most of the term. The North London side have struggled to keep clean sheets and hold onto leads this season. Currently, we sit eighth in the league table after faltering in the last few months.
Spurs have the likes of Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Clement Lenglet and Davinson Sanchez in their ranks. Unfortunately, all of them have been underwhelming in the current campaign.

Therefore, we could do with someone like Tapsoba in our ranks. However, will the North London side be able to come to an agreement with Leverkusen before Arsenal? Only time will tell.
