Juventus expect €35m fees from Tottenham Hotspur for Dejan Kulusevski

Dejan Kulusevski’s transfer from Juventus to Tottenham Hotspur is yet to be made permanent. There has been so much going on at Spurs that fans would have forgotten about this particular saga.

The 23-year-old Sweden international was signed on an initial 18-month loan deal in January 2022 with an option to make the deal permanent for €35million. The option would have become an obligation if Spurs qualified for the UEFA Champions League.

They have failed to do that this season. That means an obvious setback to the club’s finances, throwing a permanent deal for Deki up in the air.

According to Tuttosport.com, the transfer fees from Tottenham for Kulusevski would be ‘godsend’ for Juventus so that they can reinvest it in the transfer market and balance their books.

What next for Kulusevski?

The Italian giants are themselves set to miss out on UEFA Champions League football and are experiencing a tumultuous period following a 15-point deduction in Serie A. It seems that they have no use for Kulusevski.

Manor Solomon of Fulham has been linked with a free transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. The 23-year-old Israel international has been with the Cottagers on a season-long loan from Shakhtar Donetsk since last summer.

Hopefully, Daniel Levy and co. don’t use this potential deal as a way to save money on Kulusevski. The Swede was signed by Antonio Conte, who isn’t at Spurs anymore.

But he has shown that he can be a vital asset under any manager with his brilliant playmaking, finishing and dribbling ability from down the right flank. He is also pretty young and is yet to unlock his full potential.

This would feel like a sting in the pocket – a feeling that you’re paying a premium fee for a player you almost forgot wasn’t a permanent part of your team. But it is a deal that must be done.
