Tottenham Hotspur could ask Juventus to re-adjust Dejan Kulusevski fee
As if Tottenham Hotspur fans didn’t have enough to worry about when it came to their manager and sporting director, Dejan Kulusevski’s future is now cast under a big shadow of uncertainty.
Spurs signed him for an initial loan deal in January 2021 from Juventus. They have spent €10million already on the Sweden international.
They could have been obligated to pay Juventus €35million this summer had they made top four, but they didn’t. There is still an option to keep Deki for that amount.
But according to Calciomercato.com, Spurs could ask Juventus for more favourable terms. One solution could be to split the fixed fee to include a part of it in bonuses that the club can pay later.
What should Spurs do?
This makes sense. If Juventus are desperate for money and if Dejan Kulusevski doesn’t have a long-term future there, then why shouldn’t Spurs ask for a discount?
The fact they let him join us on a loan deal for so long shows he just wasn’t valued there at the time. At Spurs, he has enhanced his reputation to a great extent.
The 23-year-old has often been one of our most reliable threats in attack and his speed, dribbling, playmaking abilities and finishing make him a complete winger.
It would be hard to find a player of his ilk and his age profile for this fee. It is no harm for Spurs to sit at the table and ask Juve for a lower fee. But if they don’t budge, Daniel Levy should not back out from this deal.
