AS Roma forced to sell Tammy Abraham amidst Tottenham Hotspur links

Tammy Abraham could be set to part ways with AS Roma in the upcoming transfer window amidst links to Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t The Sun].

The Giallorossi are ready to sell the England international in order to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. They have already been fined for breaking a rule by UEFA. The Italian outfit had hoped winning the Europa League would help them, but they lost to Sevilla in the final.

Now, the Serie A giants will accept the ‘right price’ for the striker in order to ‘break-even’. The Italian outfit are confident that they will be able to get back a large portion of the £34 million they spent to sign the 25-year-old from Chelsea.

In the Premier League, the likes of Spurs, Crystal Palace, West Ham United, and Everton have been tipped to pursue a number nine next summer. To that end, Abraham is someone with immense experience in the English top flight.

The forward made his way through the youth ranks at the Stamford Bridge side. Then, in the 2019/20 season, Frank Lampard gave the 25-year-old an opportunity in the Blues’ first team and he did not disappoint.

However, Thomas Tuchel did not seem to fancy the England international and he was shipped off to Roma. At the Stadio Olimpico side, the striker enjoyed a brilliant debut season but has been underwhelming this time around.

Tottenham’s forward line is stacked with big-name players. However, Harry Kane has been the only one who has performed well in the current campaign.

Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevksi have failed to live up to expectations over the last few months. The summer 2022 signing from Everton has failed to showcase the full extent of his talent at the North London side.

Therefore, we could do with some more quality in our attack. However, will Abraham move to Spurs, considering our rivalry with Chelsea? Only time will tell.
