Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham sent their scouts to watch Edmond Tapsoba

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have sent their scouts to watch talented Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.

The Lilywhites endured a highly disappointing season, culminating in an eighth-place finish in the league. To make matters worse, teams like Brighton and Aston Villa managed to secure higher positions than Spurs.

It was evident that their defence was one of the major concerns throughout the campaign, as they conceded a staggering 63 goals, the highest among the top half of the table. No one needs to tell us where we need to reinforce.

To put the dire state of their defence into perspective, only five teams in the entire league conceded more goals than Tottenham, namely Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Leicester City, Leeds United, and Southampton – three of which were unfortunately relegated.

Edmond Tapsoba emerges as an excellent option for Spurs, and the confirmation from Fabrizio Romano only adds fuel to the transfer speculations. Romano revealed that both Arsenal and Tottenham have expressed their interest in acquiring the services of the highly-rated defender.

However, the road to securing the services of the talented Bundesliga defender is expected to be challenging. Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly adamant about parting ways with Tapsoba unless they receive a significant transfer fee.

Speaking about the competition for Tapsoba’s signature, he is what Romano had to say

“I think it will be a tough race and situation because several clubs are interested. Also, Tottenham sent their scouts, and there is interest in Tapsoba. But also, because Bayer Leverkusen will only let him go for big money, more than €50m-€55m (£43m-£47m).”

The 22-year-old Edmond Tapsoba has earned plaudits for his exceptional performances at Bayer Leverkusen. He epitomizes the modern ball-playing centre-back, possessing excellent passing abilities, and is a perfect fit for teams that prefer to build from the back.

The addition of Edmond Tapsoba could significantly bolster their backline, providing the much-needed defensive stability that was sorely lacking. Tapsoba could be the perfect pair for Cristian Romero.
