Arsenal to compete with Tottenham Hotspur for striker with 15 PL goals this season
Arsenal to compete with Tottenham Hotspur for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins
Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle Premier League rivals Arsenal in the race for Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net.
Harry Kane could be on his way out of the North London side in the coming months. To that end, Spurs need to have a strategy in place for the future regarding their new talisman.
As such, the Lilywhites have shown interest in the Villa Park side’s 27-year-old forward. The England international is being eyed by the club ahead of the upcoming transfer window as they look to bolster the attack.

But the Gunners are also keeping tabs on Watkins. In the English top flight, Manchester United are also one of the teams that have the 27-year-old on their radar.
The English national has been at the Lions since the summer of 2020. Over the last three seasons, the striker has consistently found the back of the net in the league for the Villans.
At the start of the 2022/23 campaign, Watkins had struggled. However, since the arrival of Unai Emery in Villa’s dugout, the England international has been in inspirational form. He ended the season with 15 goals in 37 PL appearances.
Kane has been the only positive for Tottenham this term. The English skipper led from the front and was our only reliable attacker. But it remains to be seen what the future will hold for the 29-year-old after failing to win a title at the North London side once again.
Last summer, we signed Richarlison from Everton. However, the Brazilian has not lived up to the expectations yet. Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski also were unable to make the necessary impact in the current campaign.

Watkins is a decent player. The English national would seemingly be a good backup to Kane. However, if the 29-year-old were to leave in the coming months, then we will evidently need better options up front.
As for Arsenal, they have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in their ranks for now. Will Mikel Arteta’s team pose a threat to us in the pursuit of the Villa forward? Only time will tell.
