Seven players put up for sale in Tottenham mass exodus
According to The Telegraph (subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur are set to undergo a significant squad overhaul this summer, as chairman Daniel Levy prepares to usher in a new era under the imminent appointment of Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.
After securing a domestic treble over the weekend, Postecoglou has apparently agreed to personal terms with Tottenham, and both clubs have reached an agreement regarding his compensation.
Postecoglou’s arrival promises to breathe new life into Tottenham, offering a fresh identity and playing style that will diverge from the approaches of former managers Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
As part of the upcoming summer rebuild, The Telegraph has unveiled that “as many as seven first-team players” could find themselves up for sale. It is much needed for a squad that has been stalling in recent times.
Leading the exodus is Hugo Lloris, the venerable Frenchman who has practically confirmed his desire to seek new pastures in the upcoming transfer window. Lloris is heavily linked with a return to his hometown club, Nice, where he could potentially end his illustrious career.
Another player likely to be on the chopping block is Ivan Perisic, despite only joining Spurs last summer. The Croatian winger was brought in by Conte, who sought to utilize his wing-back capabilities that shone during their time together at Inter Milan.
However, with Conte’s departure and the anticipated shift away from the wing-back role under Postecoglou’s regime, Perisic’s future remains uncertain. Davinson Sanchez is poised for a departure after a string of underwhelming performances this season.
Additionally, Tottenham may entertain offers for Eric Dier and Ben Davies, should they arise. Furthermore, Clement Lenglet’s tenure in North London could be short-lived, as he could return to his former club, Barcelona.
