Roger Ibanez has ‘bag packed’ ahead of Tottenham Hotspur move from AS Roma
AS Roma centre-back Roger Ibanez has a ‘bag packed’ ahead of a potential transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
This is according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, via the Express, who claim that AS Roma value him at around €30million. It seems they are desperate to sell him as well.
I Giallorossi apparently need cash and want to get him off their books by the end of June – a big boost for Spurs. This will not allow Spurs to relax and focus on other transfer targets.
But it also gives Ange Postecoglou a chance to potentially have Ibanez early on in his team and try to fit him into his system. Let’s hope Spurs don’t mess this transfer up.
Ibanez to Spurs?
It is a fairly reasonable price for a 24-year-old centre-back who will soon enter his prime years. At Roma, he has shown that he is a dependable defender who has the pace to chase down some of the fastest players.
He also played a good deal under Jose Mourino – a coach famed for his defensive tactics and attention to detail when it comes to his backline. That will only benefit him as a player.
Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga could be upgraded on. It seems that Spurs are also close to getting a deal over the line for Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet.

A window with both Ibanez and Lenglet (who could cost just €6million) would be a decent window for our backline. Moreover, it would be financially sound, so we can have funds to spare for other positions.
