Romano confirms Tottenham target Evan Ndicka has joined Roma on a 5-year-deal
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has announced that highly-rated defender Evan Ndicka has opted to sign a long-term contract with AS Roma, dashing Tottenham’s hopes of securing his services.
Ndicka’s reputation has soared in recent years, thanks to his consistently solid performances in the Bundesliga. As his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt came to an end, it was only natural that a host of clubs vied for his signature.
AC Milan had tabled a tempting offer of €3 million per season to entice the Frenchman. However, it is Roma who emerged as the frontrunners, reportedly offering Ndicka an even more lucrative deal worth €4 million per season.
The Serie A outfit’s financial muscle proved to be the deciding factor, securing the talented defender’s commitment for the foreseeable future. Tottenham have also missed out on a talented option.
While Tottenham fans will undoubtedly be disappointed to miss out on such a promising talent, it is worth remembering that the club’s pursuit of Evan Ndicka was indicative of their ambition.
With his commanding presence and exceptional defensive skills, the Frenchman would have undoubtedly bolstered Tottenham’s backline. Especially when it is a defensive line that has leaked goals for fun last season.
Nevertheless, as with any transfer window, there are always twists and turns. Tottenham’s quest for defensive reinforcements continues, and there are still several options available in the market.
Roma, on the other hand, will be overjoyed with their latest acquisition. Adding Ndicka to their squad represents a significant coup for the Italian side, as they aim to strengthen their defensive line ahead of the upcoming season.
