Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou wants to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher
Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as surprise contenders in the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to Football London.
Gallagher, a prodigious young talent within Chelsea’s ranks, enjoyed a tremendous season on loan at Crystal Palace during the 2021/2022 campaign. His impressive performances saw him notch up an impressive tally of eight goals and five assists in 39 appearances for The Eagles.
The midfielder’s remarkable form continued into the past season, where he stood out as one of the few shining lights amidst an otherwise lacklustre campaign for Chelsea. His consistent displays on the pitch have not gone unnoticed.
Newcastle United have been rumoured to be one of the clubs keen on securing Gallagher’s signature, but an intriguing development has surfaced with Tottenham expressing their interest in the talented midfielder.
The North London club, also undergoing a summer rebuild of their own, have identified Conor Gallagher as one of their potential targets for the upcoming transfer window. It is understandable considering how bad the midfield here is.
With only 45 first-team appearances under his belt for Chelsea, Gallagher’s youthfulness and hunger to prove himself could align perfectly with Postecoglou’s vision of developing and improving young stars.
At Chelsea, the arrival of new owner Todd Boehly has coincided with significant investments in the squad over the past couple of years. As a result, the competition for places has intensified, further reducing Gallagher’s chances of regular playing time.
Under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou, who has garnered a reputation for his ability to nurture young talent during his successful tenure at Celtic, the 23-year-old could thrive and make significant strides in his career.
