Richarlison eyeing Tottenham Hotspur vindication amidst Real Madrid links
Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison is adamant about wanting to prove himself at the North London side amidst links to Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have the Brazil international on their radar. The Santiago Bernabeu side boast the former Everton striker’s compatriots Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo in their front line as things stand. They recently lost the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema.
Speaking to the media via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, the 26-year-old expressed his delight and was flattered regarding the association with the La Liga giants. However, the forward is looking to vindicate the North London side’s investment in him.
“Ofc, Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world and every player wants to wear their shirt. But I have a club, a contract — I have to prove why Tottenham bought me for a high price. But any player dreams of playing for Real Madrid.”
Tottenham signed Richarlison in the summer of 2022 from the Goodison Park side. The Brazilian had been one of the most influential players for the Merseysiders in the last few seasons.
Therefore, the Lilywhites hedged their bets on a proven striker. Unfortunately, the 26-year-old was unable to showcase his talent consistently during his debut campaign at the North London side.
In the 2022/23 season, Richarlison made 35 appearances in all competitions for Spurs, scoring only three goals and providing four assists. However, it is not a lack of quality that has seen the Brazilian underwhelm. The 26-year-old shone in the 2022 World Cup.
Tottenham had to rely on Harry Kane in the previous campaign. The English skipper has been our talisman for several years now. We have often lacked depth in the area and Richarlison’s arrival seemed like a wise move.
However, the 29-year-old did not get much help from his attacking counterparts. Even the likes of Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski left a lot to be desired last season.

The Brazilian has been unable to show the best version of himself at the North London side so far. Hopefully, the 26-year-old will be motivated to prove his doubters wrong in the upcoming campaign at Spurs.
