Bayern Munich are interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Tottenham Hotspur star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is on the radar of his former club Bayern Munich in the ongoing transfer window, according to Sport Bild’s Christian Falk on Twitter.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote:
“True. FC Bayern discussed a transfer of Pierre Emile Hojbjerg”
The Bundesliga giants have held discussions regarding the return of the Denmark international this summer. It remains to be seen whether the Bavarians will take any concrete steps to acquire the services of the midfielder.
In the summer of 2020, the North London side signed the 27-year-old from Southampton. Since then, he has been a key player for Spurs and has become a better player here.
Before moving to the Saints, Hojbjerg was an up-and-coming star at Bayern. Having signed for the Bavarians in the summer of 2012, the midfielder mostly played for their reserve side initially.
However, during his time at the Allianz Arena side, the Danish national only made 25 appearances in all competitions for them. He spent two loan spells at FC Augsburg and Schalke 04.
But Southampton is where the 27-year-old revived his career. Subsequently, Tottenham came knocking for the former Bayern star. In the 2022/23 campaign, he made 44 appearances in all competitions for us, scoring five goals and providing seven assists.
Hojbjerg is mostly known for his defensive prowess in the engine room. However, last season, the Danish national stepped up to the plate and brought creativity to the North London side’s midfield.
However, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the midfielder with Ange Postecoglou now in charge. We can also call upon Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp to play in the number six role. Rodrigo Bentancur has also done well in the middle of the park for Spurs.
