Davinson Sanchez decides to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer
Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez has decided to leave the North London side in the ongoing transfer window, according to Win Sports journalist Pipe Sierra via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
After six years at the club, the Colombia international is set to part ways with the Lilywhites this summer. Spurs and the defender’s representatives are working to find a solution for his future.
As things stand, talks are set to take place to decide the 27-year-old’s next destination. The centre-back is keen on starting a new chapter in his career in the coming weeks.
Tottenham signed Sanchez from Ajax Amsterdam in the summer of 2017. The Colombian had an impressive debut season at the North London side and became a pivotal member of our starting lineup.
Subsequently, injuries hampered the defender’s game time a bit, but he was still an influential member of the team. However, in the last couple of years, the 27-year-old has become a bit-part player at the Lilywhites.
In the 2022/23 campaign, the centre-back was mostly on the bench. He made 24 appearances in all competitions but started in just eight Premier League matches for us.
Last season, Sanchez’s low point came in the 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth. The Colombian came on as a substitute in the 35th minute for Clement Lenglet. However, in the 58th minute, the 27-year-old was replaced by Arnaut Danjuma as we were a goal down.
In the previous campaign, Tottenham’s backline looked shaky. We were unable to keep clean sheets or hold onto leads. The likes of Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies were all underwhelming.

Sanzhez’s time at Spurs seems to have come to an end. The Colombian has looked low on confidence for some time now. Therefore, a move away would evidently be best for both parties.
