Arsenal are set to rival Tottenham Hotspur for Leicester City forward Harvey Barnes
According to The Daily Mail (h/t Football London), Arsenal are set to rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Harvey Barnes from Leicester City.
Leicester were relegated from the Premier League this season and are in line for interest for many of their key players, who would look to leave the Championship outfit in the coming weeks.
Barnes is one of them and although he has a contract until June 2025, the forward is one of the prized assets at the club. Selling him for a small fortune could generate a sizable fee which could help Leicester in their rebuild.
Spurs have shown interest in the player and have recently seen a £50 million bid for Barnes and James Maddison rejected by Leicester.
In all genuinely, we would have to bid much higher to land the two talents, who despite seeing their team face relegation, were constant threats to the opposition and are too good to play in the Championship.
Barnes has good numbers to show for this season as well despite missing a couple of months through injury. In 40 appearances made for the club, he scored 13 times while also providing three assists.
These are not bad numbers while playing for a side that struggled to create chances for the forward players and with better players around, Barnes could be a force to reckon with in the coming years.
Thereby interest from other clubs is also generated with Arsenal the latest team which are set to rival Spurs for the England-born winger.

It remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy makes an improved offer for both or either Barnes and Maddison in the coming weeks. Landing them both would certainly give us a shot in the arm heading into the new season.
