Arsenal want Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Harvey Barnes
Arsenal are apparently interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur target and Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes.
This is according to the Daily Mail (h/t Sun) who mention Arsenal’s interest in the 25-year-old. Leicester City were relegated to the Championship last month.
This will, of course, lead them to top teams circling their squad for potential signings. They have a number of players that are too good to be in the Championship.
Harvey Barnes can be considered as one of them. He is a lightning-fast winger who can make things happen in the final third.
Barnes to trigger a transfer battle?
The England international would be a brilliant addition to Tottenham’s side, where Son Heung-min virtually has no competition down the left flank. Barnes’ contract also expires in two years (Transfermarkt).
That isn’t necessarily a long time. That, coupled with Leicester losing their Premier League status, means his suitors, including Tottenham can be hopeful of a reasonable deal. But it said that Spurs recently had a combined £50million bid rejected for James Maddison and him.
Is that money we would want to spend on a player that doesn’t strengthen our starting XI? Perhaps not. It would be smart if we don’t go back in for him and utilise that money for just signing Maddison.
We need a world-class goalkeeper, a left-back and quality additions in central midfield and central defence. A left winger should be the least of our concerns until we strengthen these areas. Arsenal, he is all yours.

That being said, Spurs must also be on the lookout for financially sound deals to strengthen our frontline. Last season, one or the other out of Son, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski always seemed to be injured.
