Barcelona believe they can reach agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for Giovano Lo Celso
La Liga giants Barcelona believe they can reach an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur this summer for Giovani Lo Celso, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
The Blaugrana are interested in acquiring the services of the Argentina international in the upcoming transfer window to bolster the middle of the park. To that end, the Camp Nou are confident of being able to convince the North London side.
Over the last few years, the 27-year-old has been surplus to requirements at Spurs and has been shipped out a number of times. As a result, the Catalan outfit feel the Lilywhites will let the midfielder leave in a ‘low cost’ operation.
Tottenham signed Lo Celso in the summer of 2019 from Paris Saint-Germain. After playing a key role in his debut season at the North London side, the Argentine struggled for minutes.
Then, in January 2022, the midfielder made his way to Villarreal on loan. The 27-year-old thrived at the Yellow Submarines under Unai Emery, making it to the Champions League semi-finals.
The Estadio de la Ceramica side retained Lo Celso on a temporary move last summer. However, injuries hampered the playmaker’s game time in the previous campaign.
Barcelona have the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi and Frank Kessie in their ranks. The Blaugrana lost Sergio Busquets recently, though. However, the La Liga giants still have an abundance of talent in their ranks.
At Tottenham, we seemingly lack a player capable of creating chances in the final third of the pitch. Rodrigo Bentancur was relied upon to link up with the attack last season. Unfortunately, the Uruguay international suffered an injury midway through the campaign.

Therefore, we could evidently do with someone like Lo Celso in our ranks. Ange Postecoglou’s arrival gives the Argentine a clean slate to revive his career at Spurs. However, it remains to be seen whether the allure of Barcelona will entice the midfielder away this summer.
