“A package deal”- Darren Brent urges Tottenham to raid Leicester City for two key stars

Darren Brent urges Tottenham to land both James Maddison and Harvey Barnes

Speaking to Talksport, Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Brent has boldly expressed his belief that the club should make a move for Harvey Barnes and James Maddison in the upcoming summer transfer window.

With Leicester City’s unfortunate relegation to the Championship, it is widely anticipated that both Barnes and Maddison will seek new challenges elsewhere. Brent, in his recent remarks on Talksport, emphasized the potential impact the duo could have at Tottenham and called for a substantial financial investment to secure their services.

Here is what Brent had to say about Tottenham signing the duo as a package deal

“I think him (Barnes) and Maddison should be in the Premier League. Someone could be quite clever there. If they bid enough money, they might get them as a package deal. If you are Tottenham, you are looking at Harvey Barnes and James Maddison, I would put a big lump of cash. If they were to put on the table £80 million, for them two players, they are two very good players”

It comes as no surprise that Tottenham are in dire need of bolstering their midfield options. The team lacks the necessary creativity and goal threat from the middle of the park, which Barnes and Maddison could effortlessly provide.

In terms of versatility, Harvey Barnes is a force to be reckoned with, capable of playing as a central attacking midfielder or out wide as a winger. Meanwhile, Maddison’s ability to operate as a central attacking midfielder would undoubtedly enhance Tottenham’s attacking prowess.

With both Barnes and James Maddison too good to languish in the Championship, their desire to return to the top flight is palpable. Barnes, in particular, demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess by finding the back of the net on 13 occasions throughout the season.

The newly appointed manager, Ange Postecoglou, has shown a clear preference for free-flowing attacking football. The addition of these two dynamic midfielders would undoubtedly support his ambition to implement an exciting and expansive style of play at Tottenham.

It remains to be seen whether the club’s hierarchy shares the same vision and are prepared to make a substantial financial commitment to secure their services. If there is one thing that is certain, the duo will not come cheap.
