Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison
According to The Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.
Maddison is predicted to leave the Foxes after they were relegated from the Premier League this season and will spend the next season in the Championship.
A host of clubs have shown interest in the playmaker’s services with Newcastle United among the top clubs that are interested.
However, Spurs are leading the race for Maddison and are in pole position to sign the player and make him the third summer window signing after Dejan Kulusevski and Guglielmo Vicario.
Signing Maddison would definitely be a statement from the board that they are serious about getting back to the top after a sad ending to the season which saw us miss out on European places.
It would also take a lot of effort to convince players such as Maddison to come to North London without offering European football for the upcoming season.
Still, if the deal indeed materialises, it should be seen as a massive coup as England International is highly underrated. Moreover, he will add a profile that we have lacked for several years now – a truly creative No. 10.
He was the chief creator at Leicester where there were not many top talents around him and we are yet to see the best version of him when playing alongside top-quality players.
