Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane’s stance emerges after formal Bayern Munich bid
Harry Kane is apparently open to joining Bayern Munich after the German giants made a formal bid for the Tottenham Hotspur striker.
This is according to the Guardian, who add that Bayern’s offer of £60million plus add-ons falls short of Spurs’ £100million valuation of the player. Kane’s contract expires next year.
He could leave on a free transfer if we keep him here and he doesn’t pen a new deal, which already looks unlikely. In a way, Bayern’s interest is a good thing.
Of course, Spurs fans won’t be thrilled to see Harry Kane leave. He is arguably our greatest player in history and will surely have a statue of him outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kane to Bayern?
But there is a very real possibility that he leaves, and it is within this realm that we must start focusing on. Let’s assume he will leave. In such a scenario, there is no doubt that our fans would want him to join a team outside England.
We can’t have him playing for a direct rival who will strengthen themselves directly at our expense. Moreover, Bayern, who are long-term admirers of Kane, seem to want to play ball.
It is understood that clubs rarely end up selling a player for the price tag they put on them. Our nine-figure valuation of Kane, however warranted it may be, could seem unrealistic to some, given the 29-year-old’s age and the time left on his contract.

And that is why we must be a little relieved that Bayern have made an offer — if making money from Kane’s departure is our main motive. We can hopefully make them agree on a figure that pleases both parties and invest it in a world-class replacement.
