Juventus are in interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero
Juventus are keen to secure the services of Tottenham Hotspur’s star centre-back, Cristian Romero. Gaston Edul, a journalist specialising in Argentine football, recently tweeted about Juventus’ interest in the talented defender.
Romero, who initially joined Spurs on loan from Atalanta in 2021 before completing a permanent move last summer. He has emerged as Tottenham’s standout defender since his arrival.
In his 64 appearances for the club across various competitions, Cristian Romero has showcased his class in defence. While almost never having a reliable defender as his partner, his solo defensive prowess is what truly sets him apart.
However, it is fair to note that the Argentine has faced some disciplinary issues during his time at Tottenham, receiving 22 yellow cards and 3 red cards. Nevertheless, his impact on the pitch has been undeniable.
Romero’s influence extends beyond club football, as he has also played a pivotal role for the Argentine national team. His performances were instrumental in their recent successes, including clinching the Copa America and securing a historic victory at the World Cup in Qatar.
Interestingly, prior to his time at Atalanta, Romero was part of the Juventus setup. However, he never made a competitive appearance for the club and was ultimately sold to Atalanta following a couple of loan spells.
A potential return to Italy and the prospect of donning the iconic black and white jersey must surely be enticing for the young defender. Meanwhile, Tottenham have made it clear that bolstering their defensive ranks is a top priority this transfer window.
They have been strongly linked with promising centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba, suggesting that reinforcements may be on the way. In fact, the club has already announced the signings of James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, and Dejan Kulusevski.
