Ben Jacobs feels Tottenham will pull out of Micky van de Ven race due to the price tag
Speaking on The Football Terrace, Ben Jacobs has expressed his belief that Tottenham Hotspur might withdraw from the race to sign talented defender Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg.
Under the astute guidance of their manager, Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham have made significant strides in addressing key areas of concern within their squad during the current transfer window.
One such area was the need for a skilful attacking midfielder, a position sorely missed in the previous season. To rectify this, the club secured the services of James Maddison from Leicester City.
In addition to this shrewd acquisition, Tottenham has also taken steps to secure a replacement for their veteran goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, who is widely expected to depart the club this summer.
To fill this void, the club signed Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli showcasing their commitment to strengthening the squad while maintaining financial prudence. Furthermore, the arrival of Manor Solomon on a free transfer adds another dimension to Tottenham’s attacking prowess.
While the attacking side of the squad has been fortified, it appears that Postecoglou is now turning his attention to the defence. Among the names prominently linked with Tottenham are two Bundesliga talents, Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba.
However, Ben Jacobs cautions that Tottenham may ultimately abandon their pursuit of the highly-rated Wolfsburg star due to the significant price associated with his acquisition. The club’s hierarchy remains keen on securing value for money in the transfer market.
Instead, Jacobs suggests that Tottenham may redirect their attention towards Edmond Tapsoba, who has been a long-standing target. With a valuation in the range of £40-45 million, Tapsoba represents another viable option for the club.
