Paul Brown says Tottenham signing both Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven is still a possibility
In what could be a significant boost for Tottenham Hotspur, journalist Paul Brown has shed light on the potential signings of Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven, suggesting that the possibility of securing both players cannot be ruled out this summer.
Having addressed key areas such as goalkeeping, midfield, and wide positions with the arrivals of Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon respectively, it is evident that left centre-back is the next position Spurs aim to reinforce.
While speculation has been rife regarding the signing of either Tapsoba or Van de Ven, various sources, including the reputable Alasdair Gold of Football. London, have hinted that the Lilywhites may perceive Tapsoba as the more “readymade option”.
Nevertheless, developments surrounding the Van de Ven deal have taken an intriguing turn over the past few days. The talented Dutchman has reportedly already agreed to a five-year contract with Tottenham, which has instilled confidence within the club.
Brown expressed his views on the matter
“Spurs seem a little further down the line with Van de Ven. They’ve met his representatives, and I understand that personal terms won’t pose any problems. The main hurdle lies in agreeing on a fee with his current club.
“At this stage, the Van de Ven deal appears more likely to come to fruition than the Tapsoba deal. However, it is important to note that both players remain on Tottenham’s radar. So they may sign both.”
This potential double swoop for centre-back reinforcements could be a cause for excitement among Tottenham fans. Tapsoba, a highly-rated talent, has impressed with his commanding presence and ability to read the game, making him an enticing prospect for Spurs.
Securing both players would not only strengthen Tottenham’s defensive unit but also provide valuable depth and competition for places. As negotiations progress, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can finalize deals for both Tapsoba and Van de Ven.
Spurs supporters will undoubtedly be hoping for positive developments in the coming weeks as they eagerly anticipate further reinforcements ahead of the new season. Defence is an area that needs a lot of tinkering.
