Destiny Udogie excited to play under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur star Destiny Udogie is excited to play under Ange Postecoglou, who is known for his attacking style of play.
The Italian national was signed by the North London side last summer from Udinese but was loaned back to them for the 2022/23 term. After enjoying a decent season with the Serie A outfit, the full-back is ready to showcase his talent at Spurs.
Speaking to football.london, Udogie expressed his admiration for how the Australian manager likes to set up his teams. The defender is looking forward to it.
“I like his idea of football. He wants to play football with the ball, wants to have the ball. It’s not like I defend and I counter-attack. I want to have the ball.”
In our first pre-season game against West Ham United on Tuesday (18 July) in Perth, the 20-year-old came on as a substitute at half-time. Tottenham were down by two goals at that stage.
However, Giovani Lo Celso and the Italian national managed to get us back into the game. Unfortunately, the Hammers found the back of the net almost 10 minutes before the end of the game as we lost 3-2.
Udogie played as a left-back in the game and had his moments. In the previous campaign, the defender mostly played as a wing-back at Udinese. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how he adapts at Spurs.
The 2022/23 term was one to forget for the North London side. We struggled for consistency under Antonio Conte. The former Inter Milan head coach had us playing a defensive structure and the Lilywhites often let the opposition dominate possession.
Postecoglou established himself at Celtic with a completely different approach to that of Conte. The Australian seemingly likes to set up his team to attack and keep a hold of the ball.
