Juventus not giving up pursuit of Barcelona’s Franck Kessie who is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur
Juventus are apparently not giving up on their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur target and Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie.
Spurs’ interest in the player is well known at this point. But Juve are eager to bring the Ivory Coast international back to Italy, where he spent seven years after his permanent transfer to Atalanta in 2015.
He joined Barcelona as a free agent last summer but as expected, is finding it hard to be a meaningful player in the starting XI due to the quality at Xavi Hernandez’s disposal.
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t TuttoJuve), Juventus are keen to sign Kessie while Spurs are mentioned as a serious suitor. Kessie, 26, is in the prime years of his career.
Kessie to Spurs?
At Spurs and even Juve, he can have a better chance of playing time than he does right now at Barcelona. Sergio Busquets’ exit would have offered him hope but they’ve since signed Oriol Romeu and Ilkay Gundogan.
Spurs, meanwhile, need depth in central midfield. Especially a player that oozes quality. Kessie at Milan was a force to reckon with in central midfield with an engine Son Heung-min would be proud of.
Oliver Skipp and Harry Winks have been average. Yves Bissouma has struggled to adapt so far while Pape Matar Sarr needs more time before we can pass a judgement on him.
To make things worse, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a transfer to Atletico Madrid this summer. But we have to be wary of Juventus.

The report says Kessie is enticed by the chance of playing in the Premier League. We can offer him no European football next season but hopefully, the €35m-rated midfielder is enticed by the Ange Postecoglou project for what it is. If not, it won’t be a smart idea to have a player that doesn’t want to play for us.
