Napoli make Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso a priority target
Tottenham Hotspur star Giovani Lo Celso is a priority target for Serie A champions Napoli in the ongoing transfer window, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.
The Partenoepi are hoping to acquire the services of the Argentina international on loan this summer. However, it remains to be seen whether the North London side will want to part ways with the 27-year-old in the coming weeks.
Napoli are keen to get a hold of Lo Celso’s signature. In the summer of 2022, the Serie A giants wanted to sign the Argentine. But in the end, the Naples-based club got Tanguy Ndombele on a temporary move.
Apart from the Spurs midfielder, the Partenopei also have former Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos on their radar. It will be interesting to see whether the Italian outfit will be able to get their targets.
Lo Celso joined Tottenham in the summer of 2019 from Real Betis. The Argentine was expected to do well at the North London side but has failed to live up to expectations over the years.
The midfielder has spent the last season and a half away from Spurs on loan at Villarreal. At the Yellow Submarine, the playmaker was a key player for Unai Emery and thrived. Unfortunately, an injury in the previous campaign hampered his game time.
Now, Lo Celso has returned to Tottenham. During pre-season, Ange Postecoglou has counted on him. The Argentine has put in some decent displays, scoring against West Ham United and Lion City Sailors and made a case for himself.
The gaffer has hinted at the midfielder being a part of his plans going into next season. However, whether the North London side will accept an offer for the playmaker if it arrives remains to be seen.
Lo Celso has an abundance of qualities, as he showcased at Villarreal and continues to show for his national side under Lionel Scaloni. Will Napoli get a hold of his signature in the coming weeks? Only time will tell.
