Harry Kane prepared to sign new Tottenham Hotspur contract if Bayern Munich move collapses
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is willing to sign a new contract at the club if his potential move to Bayern Munich collapses this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
Spurs will play Brentford in the opening game of the season on 13 August. The striker has decided to stay put at the North London side if the Bavarians are unable to come to a consensus for his transfer until then.
To that end, the England international is open to holding talks over a new deal with the Lilywhites if there is significant progress under Ange Postecoglou. As things stand, the 30-year-old is set to become a free agent next summer.
However, while Kane has set a seeming deadline for his departure this summer, Tottenham are not ruling out parting ways with the forward until the ongoing transfer window ends.
At the moment, there is still a gap between the offer from Bayern and the North London side’s valuation. Spurs want £100 million for the English skipper. But the Bundesliga giants are ready to table an £85 million offer.
Kane made his way through the youth ranks at Tottenham before breaking into the team in the 2014/15 term. Since then, the forward has been relied upon by the Lilywhites to find the back of the net consistently.
In the previous campaign, the English national broke Jimmy Greaves’ record and became the North London side’s leading goalscorer. The striker also achieved a similar accolade for the Three Lions.
Kane’s departure would evidently be a big blow for Tottenham. The forward was the only outlet up front we were able to count upon in the previous campaign. Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski struggled to score goals.

The English national’s willingness to stay at Spurs once the season starts is encouraging. Even if we are unable to tie him down to a new contract, having the striker at our disposal would arguably be a big help in the race for a Champions League spot.
