Rosario Central ‘approached’ by Tottenham Hotspur for striker Alejo Veliz
Tottenham Hotspur have made an approach to sign Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central in the ongoing transfer window, according to César Luis Merlo of Tyc Sports (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter).
As things stand, the North London side are in discussions with the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito side regarding a move for the 19-year-old this summer.
However, for now, Spurs have not been able to reach a consensus with all the parties involved. However, the Lilywhites’ interest in the young Argentine striker is concrete. The next few days will shed more light on the situation.
Tottenham are facing uncertainty regarding Harry Kane. At the moment, Bayern Munich are looking to acquire his services. The English national has just one year left on his current contract at the North London side (transfermarkt). Thus, we have to plan for a future without him.
Apart from the 30-year-old, Ange Postecoglou has Richarlison in his ranks. The Brazil international signed for the Lilywhites last summer from Everton. Unfortunately, the forward flattered to deceive in his debut campaign.
In the 2022/23 term, none of Spurs’ attackers, apart from Kane, were able to make much of an impact. Son Heung-min endured a difficult season. Dejan Kulusevski also suffered due to fitness issues.
Who is Alejo Veliz?
Veliz, born in 2003, made his way to Rosario Central in 2019. Subsequently, the youngster made his debut for the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito on 23 July 2021, in their 1-0 win over Deportivo Tachira in the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana.
However, in 2022, the Argentine broke onto the scene and caught a lot of people’s attention. This year, the striker has gone from strength to strength, scoring 11 league goals in 23 appearances so far.

Tottenham have added Manor Salomon to their attacking ranks this summer. Whether Veliz will be another player to reinforce our forward line in the coming weeks remains to be seen.
