Tottenham target Clement Lenglet rejects Al Nassr move
According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham target Clement Lenglet has rejected a move to join Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia as he wants to continue his career in Europe.
It emerged recently that the former Tottenham loanee was given the opportunity to move to Saudi and join Cristiano Ronaldo. Understandably, Barcelona did not think twice about accepting the bid and it was up to the player.
Lenglet however refused to make that move in his career, stating his desire to continue in Europe. This is a boost for Tottenham who remain interested in signing the player and are playing the waiting game with Barcelona.
Clement Lenglet spent last season on loan at the N17, and to be fair to him, he did a very decent job. Although he was not spectacular, he was still better than most of our existing options and it makes sense if we sign him.
Comfortable carrying the ball out of defence and playing out of the back, there is no doubt that Lenglet will thrive in an Ange Postecoglou system. He would be playing in a tactical setup that plays through his strength and masks his weaknesses.
It is not going to be easy for Tottenham to sign Lenglet though. Now that they know that Barcelona are desperate to sell him, the North London club do not want to spend much on the player.
Lenglet if used correctly could be a very good squad player for the North London club. However, Tottenham must not make the mistake of signing him and making him a regular starter as he always has a mistake in him.
Now that we know that Lenglet is not likely to move to Saudi Arabia, Tottenham would be a bit more calm about his situation. Moving for him later in the transfer window might help us get him for a cheaper price.
