James Maddison wants Tottenham Hotspur to retain Harry Kane amidst Bayern Munich interest
Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison would “love” to have Harry Kane at the North London side going into the 2023/24 term.
The English skipper has been linked with a move away from the Lilywhites this summer. To that end, Bayern Munich are looking to acquire the 30-year-old’s services in the ongoing transfer window.
However, speaking to TNT Sports (h/t Express), Maddison, who signed for Tottenham recently from Leicester City, hopes to play alongside Kane when the season starts. The playmaker has hailed the English skipper’s attitude.
“I’d love Harry Kane to stay, he’s the best No.9 in the world in my opinion. What will be will be. Everyone knows what Harry is like, he’s a super professional guy and whenever he goes into training he gives 100 per cent. It’s the same with all the lads.”
Kane has emerged as a top target for Bayern this summer. However, Spurs have rejected the Bundesliga giants’ latest offer worth £81.7 million for the striker.
The English national has been our talisman for several years now. Therefore, it is understandable that the North London side are reluctant to part ways with the England international unless the right offer is presented.
Having made his way through the youth ranks at Tottenham, Kane established himself as a regular starter in the 2014/15 term and has not looked back since. The forward has been relied upon by the Lilywhites to find the back of the net on a consistent basis.
In the previous campaign, the English national was once again a pivotal player for us. He scored 30 goals in 38 Premier League appearances for us. The North London side’s other attackers failed to make a considerable impact.
Kane was often seen dropping deep into the middle of the park to receive the ball last season. Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini both set us up to counterattack. We also seemingly lacked a quality playmaker in the engine room.

Now, Spurs have Maddison in their ranks for the number 10 position. However, it remains to be seen whether the former Leicester star will have the opportunity to strike a partnership with Kane.
