Tottenham Hotspur slammed by journalist for links to Bayern Munich starlet Mathys Tel
Raimund Hinko, a German journalist, has slammed Tottenham Hotspur for “making fun” of Bayern Munich by being linked with Mathys Tel.
Spurs have been linked with the Bavarians 18-year-old striker in the ongoing transfer window. On the other hand, the Bundesliga giants are trying to sign Harry Kane from the North London side this summer.
However, writing on Bild (h/t football.london), Hinko first pleaded with Bayern not to waste money on the English skipper. The German also took a swipe at the Lilywhites in the process.
“Why the hell are Tottenham now even making fun of FC Bayern and spreading rumours that they want to buy Mathys Tel? You can’t let Tottenham show you up, dear Bayern officials.
“Don’t ridicule. Who are they from this London suburb anyway? English champions in Stone Age football 62 and 72 years ago.”
While Tel is arguably a promising prospect, he is nowhere near fulfilling his potential. The French national made 28 appearances (two starts) in all competitions for the Bundesliga giants last season, scoring six goals.
On the other hand, Kane is a prolific goalscorer who has proven himself in the Premier League for several years now. The English skipper is our most valuable asset and it is understandable that the North London side want a considerable sum for him.
While Spurs might not have much success as of late, the English top flight is very competitive. Unlike Bayern, who are almost guaranteed the Meisterschale almost every season, we have a number of world-class teams ahead of us.
Would it be unthinkable for a player like Tel to make his way to Tottenham? Absolutely not. We have produced some of the biggest names in world football recently, the biggest being Kane.
If the 30-year-old does end up leaving the Lilywhites this summer, we would evidently need to bolster our forward line. As things stand, we have Richarlison in our ranks, capable of playing in the number nine position.

While Tel is talented, he is still a raw product. However, Ange Postecoglou did well to help break out some impressive talent at Celtic. Whether the Australian will be provided the services of the young French national remains to be seen.
