Inter Milan are set to make a bid for Tottenham Hotspur target Mehdi Taremi
According to famous Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter Milan are rumoured to have set their sights on Iranian sensation Mehdi Taremi, a player admired by Tottenham Hotspur.
Taremi is not the only forward the Italian side are interested in though with Folarin Balogun and Beto also on the shortlist for Inter. This happens to be the case after they missed out on Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta.
As the countdown to the Serie A kick-off continues, the Nerazzurri are evidently feeling the heat of their frontline deficiency, pushing them to explore potential solutions in haste. Edin Dzeko has left the club and Romelu Lukaku is no longer an option.
Inter Milan are now seeking a fresh answer upfront. The Taremi saga has seen some development with the Italian club directly engaging with Porto, the custodian of Mehdi Taremi‘s talents, seeking to gauge the feasibility of a potential acquisition.
This comes as a blow to Tottenham who had identified Taremi as a potential option to reinforce the front-line should Harry Kane leave the club. Competition from Inter certainly does not help the cause.
The 31-year-old striker would have been a close replacement for Kane, should the Englishman have left. However, he is very much at the club and at this point, looks closer to staying than leaving.
Thus, Tottenham might not need to sign a striker this summer. If that indeed is the case, then they will not have a problem with Taremi getting closer to Inter Milan and they can move on in peace.
However, the football landscape is very uncertain. Something drastic can turn up and Kane could leave the club. In such a scenario, Tottenham will find themselves scrambling for options and Taremi might not be one.

If Inter sign Taremi, there is not much we can do about it. With Kane at the club, we are unlikely to push for him. Only time will tell if it all works out.
