Tottenham are still the favourites to sign Brentford target and Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson
As per Simon Jones for the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are favourites to sign Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson despite interest from Brentford.
A couple of days ago, it was revealed that Tottenham would be ready to offer up to three players to Forest in return for signing Johnson this summer.
Almost two weeks ago, Forest rejected Brentford’s £35m bid for the Welsh international. So, the Bees have been trying to get the player for some time now.

Johnson was impressive in his first season in the Premier League last time around. He and Morgan Gibbs-White were the main reasons why Steve Cooper’s team survived relegation.
The 22-year-old scored eight goals and assisted three in 38 league appearances. He is also a proper team player who can operate anywhere across the forward line.
Spurs have done decent business to bolster the forward line this summer. James Maddison was signed to improve the creative side of things while young Argentina striker Alejo Veliz is added to hopefully be a backup for Harry Kane.

We still do not know the future of Kane. Although Tottenham rejected the latest offer from Bayern Munich, the German champions are still in talks for a possible move before the deadline day.
Regardless of what happens with the England captain, Spurs could do with an addition of Johnson’s ilk. The Welshman would offer flexibility and increased quality in the final third on and off the ball.

We can envisage a scenario where Ange Postecoglou plays Johnson, Kane, Maddison, Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski in a 4-3-3 system with Maddison and Johnson as attacking number eights. This is the fantasy world but the club can turn that into a reality.
