Richarlison backed to replace Bayern Munich-bound Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur are going to back Richarlison to replace Harry Kane up front, who is set to join Bayern Munich this summer, according to The Times (Subscription Required) [h/t Express].

The Bavarians have been pushing to acquire the services of the England international in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, they have now agreed terms with the North London side for the striker.

If the 30-year-old’s exit ends up materialising, Spurs will count on the former Everton star to lead the line next season. Instead of getting an established forward, the Lilywhites plan to get a young number nine to act as an understudy for the Brazil international.

At the moment, Gent youngster Gift Orban and Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson are on Tottenham’s radar. However, it remains to be seen whether the North London side will be able to get a deal over the line for either of them in the coming weeks.

Kane has given Spurs for a number of years now. He broke into the starting lineup in the 2014/15 term and has not looked back since. If the striker leaves, he will do so as a legend of the club.

The English skipper broke Jimmy Greaves’ record to become Spurs’ record goalscorer last season. Unfortunately, he was the only reliable attacker at the Lilywhites’ disposal in the previous campaign.

Richarlison’s first year at Tottenham was one to forget. The forward failed to make an impact at the North London side, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 35 appearances in all competitions for us.

Therefore, it does not seem wise to go into next season without a quality addition up front to replace Kane. We have already signed a young striker in Alejo Veliz.

But apart from Richarlison, Ange Postecoglou can also call upon Son Heung-min in the number nine position if need be. Therefore, it remains to be seen how Spurs will plan to proceed.
