Xavi wants Barcelona to sign Tottenham star Giovani Lo Celso ahead of Neymar

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez prefers a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso over Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr.

The current Barcelona boss seems to lean towards Lo Celso’s acquisition, citing concerns over the potential upheaval Neymar’s return might bring to the dressing room dynamics. He would understandably prefer the Argentinian.

As the pre-season curtains gradually draw to a close, Giovani Lo Celso has unquestionably been one of Tottenham’s standout performers. Ange Postecoglou, the tactician at the helm, has not been shy about showering the Argentine midfielder with praise.

Just a few weeks ago, Postecoglou publicly commended Lo Celso’s style of play, stating that the 27-year-old aligns perfectly with his football philosophy. This endorsement carries weight, especially considering the Greek-Australian manager’s commitment to implementing an attractive and attacking style of play at the North London club.

Lo Celso’s pre-season journey has seen him embrace the number eight role with vigour. His performances have been laced with glimpses of creativity, tactical intelligence, and a keen eye for goal.

What elevates this narrative to a higher level is the close scrutiny he faced from none other than Xavi Hernandez himself. The recent Joan Gamper Trophy clash served as an arena where the Argentine’s talents were illuminated.

Lo Celso’s virtuoso display during the match left a distinct impression on the Barcelona boss, making a lasting case for his potential inclusion in the Spanish giants’ ranks. To be fair, he would suit the club.

Loaned out over the past couple of seasons, the Argentine has returned to the fold under Postecoglou’s tutelage. This newfound role within the manager’s plans underscores Lo Celso’s resurgence and his ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

Tottenham would likely want to keep him at the club. Unless the player pushes for a move, it seems like they will and rightly so.
