Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur drop out of the race for FC Porto striker Mehdi Taremi
Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan are no longer interested in acquiring the services of FC Porto star Mehdi Taremi, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri on Twitter.
Spurs, along with the Nerazzurri, have discarded the addition of the striker to their ranks in the ongoing transfer window. The Dragoes want €30 million to part ways with the Iran international, which was too much for the Serie A giants.
It does not make sense from the North London side’s point of view either. He is 31 years old, has just one year left on his current contract at the Primeira Liga outfit and has never played in a top league.
However, despite the Lilywhites and the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side dropping their interest, Tremi could still get a move away from Porto. It remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
The Iranian joined the Dragoes in the summer of 2020 and has since been prolific for them. The striker found the back of the net 31 times and provided 14 assists in 51 appearances in all competitions for the Portuguese giants last season.
Tottenham evidently need to add a prolific goalscorer to their ranks this summer. Harry Kane has parted ways with the North London side and has joined Bayern Munich in the ongoing transfer window.
The England international was relied upon by Spurs for several years to find the back of the net on a consistent basis. He was our only reliable forward in the 2022/23 term.
Richarlison looks like the potential replacement for the 30-year-old in the squad. However, the Brazilian had an underwhelming debut season at the North London side. He failed to do much in the first Premier League game of the season against Brentford, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
