Fabrizio Romano talks about Romelu Lukaku’s potential transfer from Chelsea to Tottenham Hotspur
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has spoken about the future of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku who Tottenham Hotspur are linked to this summer.
Romano has claimed that there is no truth to these rumours and that Lukaku is not being considered an option by Tottenham. The North London club do need a striker but the Belgian is not the answer.
Lukaku finds himself out of the project at Stamford Bridge. He is not a part of the plans under Mauricio Pochettino and does not feature in any of his squads. He is continually linked with an exit from the club.
Here is what Romano had to say about Lukaku and if the Tottenham links had any weight to it
“A Chelsea player who is out of the project Romero Lukaku who had some rumours about Tottenham tonight coming from Italy. Many of you Tottenham fans and Chelsea [were] fans asking me if that was true. From what I’m hearing at the moment Tottenham are denying this possibility of Romelu Lukaku then we never know in the market for sure the Lukaku situation is complicated he’s not part of Chelsea’s plans and he’s on the market but there are no concrete bids.”
The former Inter Milan striker looked like he would have gone back to the Italian club but that did not materialise. He still finds himself stuck in West London but could a shift to North London be on the cards?
Tottenham suddenly are in the lookout for a new striker following the departure of Harry Kane. At his best, we all know how good Romelu Lukaku can be and it is understandable why we are linked to him.
If Lukaku is inspired, fit and raring to go, there are not many strikers in the world who are more lethal than the Belgian. The problem with him though is that such seasons happen once in a blue moon.
If Tottenham decide to sign Lukaku which they don’t seem like doing, they will need to be sure that the Belgian is determined and comes with his best levels to the club. The former Manchester United man understandably has his critics.
There is also the other question of whether Lukaku would fit an Ange Postecoglou system. He is not the greatest on the ball and has quite a clumsy first touch, unlike Kane who was simply sensational in this regard.
