Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison backed to ignore Michail Antonio handshake
According to The Express, West Ham United star Michail Antonio has confessed that he does not expect Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison to shake his hand when the sides face each other this season.
This comes following Antonio poking fun at the Spurs ace on his podcast last season where Richarlison scored only one Premier League goal. He endured a difficult debut campaign at the N17, netting once in 27 appearances in the top flight.
His struggles in front of goal were an object of fun for Antonio and fellow Englishman Callum Wilson who shared a joke at Richarlison’s expense. The duo found it funny that the Brazilian received four yellow cards for his celebrations last season, three of which proved premature as they were ruled out for offside.
The Spurs star is backed to not be forgiving to Antonio regarding his comments and will avoid shaking his hand next time around It adds fire to what is usually a hard-fought side between the two London sides.
Antonio’s confidence in Richarlison’s snub comes after his conversation with the Brazilian’s international colleague Lucas Paqueta who confirmed that the Spurs ace can hold a grudge.
“Lucas is like ‘It’s just how he is, Mickey. I told him that’s how you are. But he says ‘no, no, no. When we play against them. I am not going to shake his hand.”
Antonio and Wilson’s comments were admonished at the time by then interim boss Ryan Mason who called upon the duo to do better as professionals. He also hinted that the incident could spur Richarlison to do better and prove his detractors wrong.
The Hammers travel to north London on 5th December while the reverse fixture will be played at the London Stadium on 2nd April 2024.
With Harry Kane now gone, Richarlison automatically becomes our first-choice striker. While we can understand that he is annoyed at his professional colleagues, it will not be a good look for him to sulk at them and show he is rattled.

Banter is a part of normal day sport and the Brazilian will be wise to prove his detractors wrong on the field. He will do well to shake Antonio’s hand should they lone up and then go on to put West Ham to the sword during the match. Any show of hostility when it cannot produce the goods will only show that the Hamemrs star lives rent-free in our striker’s head.
