Hugo Lloris open to Tottenham Hotspur stay after rejecting Lazio
Tottenham Hotspur star Hugo Lloris is open to staying at the club this summer after rejecting a move to Lazio, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
The veteran goalkeeper still has a year left on his current contract at the North London side. To that end, the 36-year-old is open to seeing out his deal at Spurs before leaving as a free agent next summer.
In the ongoing transfer window, Lloris has been linked with a move away from Tottenham. The shot-stopper’s future is still uncertain at the moment.
Lazio had come to an agreement with the North London side regarding the French national. However, the veteran goalkeeper has decided against joining the Serie A outfit after the Rome-based club were unable to provide him guarantees.
However, apart from the Biancocelesti, Lloris is attracting interest from other places as well. Teams in England and around Europe have the shot-stopper on their radar. The attractive destination of Saudi Arabia could also be an option for him.
Tottenham signed the French national in the summer of 2012 from Olympique Lyon. For over a decade, the veteran goalkeeper was the first choice in between the sticks at the North London side.
However, with the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, Lloris expressed his desire to leave the club. Subsequently, the Lilywhites acquired the services of Guglielmo Vicario to be the new number one at Spurs for the 2023/24 term.
Tottenham signed the Italian from Empoli this summer. The 26-year-old put in some encouraging performances during pre-season and did well in our opening game of the season last weekend against Brentford.

Lloris has been a loyal servant to the North London side. We have Fraser Forster and Brandon Austin in our ranks as the backups. However, keeping the French national as the number two does not seem like a bad thing either.
