Tottenham duo keen to stay put at N-17 amidst summer exit rumours

Giovani Lo Celso and Ivan Perisic are keen to stay at Tottenham Hotspur

According to the Times, Tottenham Hotspur duo Giovani Lo Celso and Ivan Perisic who seemed to be on their way out of the club seem set to stay at the club at least for the upcoming season.

Giovani Lo Celso and Ivan Perisic, both peripheral figures in the Tottenham machine, found themselves entangled in transfer speculations. For a long time, it seemed like they had no future at the club.

Ivan Perisic, the Croatian dynamo who had previously been a part of Inter Milan, was initially at the center of a transfer narrative that seemed destined to carry him back to his former Italian abode.

Antonio Conte’s departure from the North London club raised questions about Ivan Perisic‘s future. It looked like the Croatian did not have any intention of continuing at the N17 once the Italian left the club.

Enter Ange Postecoglou, the mastermind at the helm, whose discerning eye found merit in Perisic’s performances, leading to a renewed belief in the player’s potential. The veteran footballer was Tottenham’s best player in the pre-season.

An adept defensive contributor, he also orchestrated 12 assists, adding an indispensable layer to Tottenham’s arsenal. This season, he has a different role though and that is to play as a winger in Postecoglou’s system.

Giovani Lo Celso too was continually linked with an exit from the club. The Argentinian playmaker has never been able to call Tottenham his home but a good pre-season under Ange Postecoglou seems to have changed things for him.

His versatility affords him the ability to seamlessly transition between roles, a chameleon-like presence that could inject dynamism into the squad. Whether as a backup to James Maddison or as a winger weaving through opposition defences, Lo Celso’s impact is poised to play in various positions.
