Stade Rennais consider Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez transfer
Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez is being considered by Stade Rennais in the ongoing transfer window, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.
As things stand, the Ligue 1 outfit could lose one of their star centre-backs in Arthur Theate in the coming weeks. RB Leipzig are interested in acquiring the services of the Belgium international.
To that end, the Roazhon Park side are looking for replacements for the 23-year-old. One of the names on Bruno Genesio’s team’s radar is the North London side Colombian.
In the last few months, Rennes have been offered the services of Sanchez. Now, the 27-year-old is emerging as a serious option for the Ligue 1 outfit to bolster their backline. Olympique Lyon, Strasbourg and AS Monaco have also been proposed the centre-back’s signature.
Tottenham signed the Colombian in the summer of 2017 from Ajax Amsterdam. Unfortunately, he has failed to make a big enough impact at the North London side and is now valued at €10–€12 million by the club.
In the previous campaign, Sanchez struggled for minutes. When he did get a run-out, the defender put in underwhelming performances. Although, injuries have not helped the centre-back’s cause either.
Despite his poor performances over the years, Ange Postecoglou has given the Colombian minutes at the start of the 2023/24 term. But Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven seem to be the gaffer’s preferred options in the backline.
The Australian manager has Eric Dier at his disposal as well. But Spurs seem to lack depth in the central defensive positions. Clement Lenglet was a prominent member of the squad last season. The French national has gone back to Barcelona after his loan spell.

Therefore, we evidently need to add more centre-backs to our ranks before parting ways with Sanchez. Will the Colombian end up moving to Rennes this summer? Only time will tell.
