Sam Allardyce says Yves Bissouma must feel like a bargain signing for Tottenham Hotspur
Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce was full of praise for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma and claims that he feels like a bargain for the North London club now.
The 27-year-old Malian had faced a challenging campaign with the North London club last year, but he has since undergone a remarkable transformation, reemerging as a linchpin in Ange Postecoglou’s midfield setup.
Allardyce couldn’t help but shower accolades on Bissouma, declaring that the defensive midfield dynamo now represents a bargain for Tottenham, given the £25 million they invested in his acquisition.

Allardyce, a seasoned observer of the game, reminisced
“I think I said before, and I watched him in his last game against Leeds when I was there last season. They thrashed us on the day, and he was part of that ability that you saw and thought, well, one season in, new manager brings the best out of him, knows what Tottenham is about now.”
Allardyce, with his wealth of experience, underscored the patience that often eludes modern football management, explaining how players often require a good year or even two to truly settle into a new club’s ethos and demands.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder was brought to Tottenham’s ranks by Antonio Conte, yet he struggled to secure regular playing time under the Italian’s stewardship last season.
Yves Bissouma performances this season have been nothing short of stellar, playing a pivotal role in Tottenham’s remarkable ascent to the second spot in the league table. With their eyes set on Champions League qualification, the resurgence of Bissouma couldn’t have come at a better time for Spurs.
Postecoglou’s innovative attacking approach has been a breath of fresh air, and Bissouma’s defensive acumen has afforded the team the freedom to express themselves in attack. He is the perfect midfielder for Postecoglou’s setup.
