Tottenham Hotspur vice captain Christian Romero believes new manager Ange Postecoglou is a ‘perfect fit’ for the club
Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has provided insights into the team’s experience under new manager Ange Postecoglou.
In an interview with Optus Sport, the Tottenham player also labels the Greek coach as a person who fits the history of the club.
The Spurs are in excellent form as they prepare for Sunday’s North London derby against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Under Postecoglou‘s leadership, the Lilywhites have quickly transformed into a strong and cohesive unit, showing positive signs just a few months into his tenure.
Romero, who has been in fine form, has played a significant role in Tottenham’s success. He has contributed to four league victories, one draw, and two clean sheets, scoring twice in the process.
This season, the former Celtic manager has entrusted the world-cup-winning star with the role of being one of the team’s vice-captains. The 25-year-old had nothing but good words for Postecoglou and his winning attitude.
While talking to Optus Sports, he said:
“I think the club needed this kind of manager who fits perfectly with the history of the club. He’s a good person. And he’s got his objectives clear. He wants to achieve things.”
It’s impressive to see how rapidly Postecoglou has orchestrated a turnaround at Tottenham. Similarly, it’s a huge relief to witness Romero in excellent form.
Although he displayed his quality last season, there were moments of frustration visible in his play.
The centre-back also played a crucial role in his national team’s victory in the World Cup, and he would be aiming to achieve similar success with the current squad.
The Argentine is no stranger to such intense matches, and emotions are likely to run high when Tottenham faces Arsenal in their upcoming clash.

Now, with a more reliable defence surrounding him, it’s entirely expected that Romero will find it easier to keep players like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus at bay.
The fans can expect the upcoming clash to be a highly tactical match-up with challenges thrown from both ends.
