Tottenham star James Maddison revealed the knock that he suffered against Arsenal

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison has explained why he had to come off against Arsenal after sustaining an injury.

After playing a starring role in the North London derby yesterday, James Maddison should be feeling pretty happy with himself. However, the Spurs star picked up a knock in that game and has revealed how he feels about the potential injury.

James Maddison has undoubtedly made a splendid start to his Tottenham career since making the switch from Leicester City this summer. With his deft touch and impeccable vision, he’s already become a vital cog in Ange Postecoglou’s midfield machinery.

In the game against Arsenal, he showcased his creative brilliance by providing two exquisite assists for his captain, Heung-min Son. It was a display of pure class that endeared him to the Tottenham faithful even further.

With those assists, Maddison’s contribution this season swells to a tally of six goals and assists combined. It shows that the Englishman is one of the best players in the league at the moment and he does not want anyone to forget it.

As the final whistle blew at the Emirates Stadium, the scoreline read 2-2, signifying a hard-fought draw in the early-season North London derby. Both sides managed to preserve their unbeaten record in the Premier League campaign.

James Maddison, displaying grit and determination, continued to soldier on even after suffering a knock for a while longer before eventually making way for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Speaking about his injury, here is what he said.

“I had a little moment when I tackled Jorginho where I jolted my knee a little bit. You do not want to ever be playing in a derby where you are not at 100 per cent because it can cost the team, so I had to come off for the last little period.”

James Maddison’s presence has been nothing short of transformative for Tottenham this season. His ability to dictate play, unlock defences, and contribute with both goals and assists has been instrumental in the team’s promising start.
