Tottenham Hotspur’s senior star Ivan Perisic could join Croatian side Hajduk Split in the upcoming transfer window
According to Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti, Tottenham Hotspur star Ivan Perisic is set to complete a move to Hajduk Split in January.
It has been stated that all the necessary arrangements have been made for the versatile player to return to his childhood club.
Last week, the former Inter Milan star received a huge setback when the Spurs confirmed that he had sustained an ACL injury in his right knee.
This injury is likely to keep the 34-year-old sidelined for up to six months, despite his important role in Ange Postecoglou’s early-season plans.
Despite this setback, the Croatian winger has been strongly linked with a move away from Spurs, specifically a return to his home country.
And now it has been revealed that Perisic is expected to depart Tottenham in January to rejoin Hajduk, with Luka Vuskovic making the move to North London. However, it appears that the young centre-back’s move to the Lilywhites has opened the path for Perisic to leave Spurs during the upcoming winter.
Despite the player’s recent injury, Hajduk are determined to proceed with the deal, and all the necessary arrangements have been made. Tottenham are prepared to release Perisic, considering he will have only six months left on his contract by January.
The former Bayern Munich star, of course, shares a close relationship with Hajduk Split. He played for their academy from 1995 to 2006 before joining Sochaux in France.
The former Serie A star has been an impactful player during his brief tenure ever since he was signed by Antonio Conte in the summer of 2021 on a free transfer. Now, his role has been reduced to contributing from the bench under Ange Postecoglou.
However, it’s evident that the winger doesn’t have game time under Ange Postecoglou. Even after being a flexible player, the Lilywhites have several options in those positions.
Tottenham already possesses a surplus of attacking options, having recently acquired Brennan Johnson on deadline day, who even played on the left flank against Arsenal last Sunday.
Also, the club has players like Destiny Udogie and Ryan Sessegnon who can fill the left-back position. The former has made a strong impression in the Premier League and is now the preferred left-back for Tottenham.

Postecoglou is keen on developing the talented young players in his squad. Therefore, a January departure seems to be the best outcome for Perisic.
Tottenham can save on the veteran star’s wages, and the player himself can return to regular action with another club.
