Sassuolo star Armand Lauriente’s agent Roberto Meloni confirms interest from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United
Sassuolo winger Armand Lauriente’s agent Roberto Meloni has revealed that his client drew interest from teams such as Tottenham and West Ham United.
The French star was linked with several clubs during the summer, but he ultimately decided to remain with the Serie A side.
Lauriente, who joined Sassuolo from FC Lorient in 2022, has made 35 appearances for the Italian club, contributing eight goals and seven assists during his time with the club.
The transfer window has different phases: one when clubs identify their required players, and another after it closes when many previously undisclosed stories come to light.
This situation applies to the 24-year-old attacker. According to his agent, Meloni, Lauriente is happy with his progress at Sassuolo.
Meloni revealed that several clubs, including Premier League sides Tottenham and West Ham, were among those expressing interest in the talented winger. While speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, the agent said:
“We already had a lot of interest in him, but on a growth level, we didn’t feel like leaving Sassuolo for the sake of change. Then there was interest from Tottenham.”
“In the Premier League, there was an attempt by West Ham, but he wants to get to an important level, preferring a second season at Sassuolo to confirm himself. Of course, next year he is on the list of departures with offers of a high level.”
Tottenham addressed their need for a new attacker by signing Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest for £47 million at the close of the transfer window.
Meanwhile, Lauriente is under contract with Sassuolo until 2027, giving the Italian club a strong negotiating position in future transfer windows.
The Spurs are already renowned for their exciting attacking prowess in the league, and adding Lauriente to their lineup would make them even more dynamic.
The Frenchman brings a lot to the table. He not only possesses the kind of direct ball-carrying ability favoured by Ange Postecoglou but is also an exceptional striker of the ball, capable of delivering fantastic free-kicks.
While having a free-kick specialist on the team is always advantageous, it’s worth noting that with James Maddison already in the squad, the Serie A star might not have as many opportunities to showcase this particular skill if he joins North London.
Nevertheless, the Lilywhites could benefit from additional options in wide positions, where Lauriente could be a valuable addition.
His versatility allows him to play on either flank, providing backup for players like Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski.
The chance of playing for a Premier League club holds great value and could be good for his career.
