Former English player Chris Sutton warns Tottenham Hotspur about the dangers of facing in-form Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are set to face Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur in a home league game today and Dominik Szoboszlai is one player to watch from the Reds.
However, according to former player turned pundit Chris Sutton, who provided a preview on BBC Sport, the Reds’ standout player, Dominik Szoboszlai, could pose a threat to Spurs.
The Merseyside club is in excellent form as they approach their next league match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They currently hold the second position in the table, unlike Spurs, who are in fourth place.
Liverpool’s recent performance in the Carabao Cup was also impressive, with a 3-1 victory against Leicester. Szoboszlai stood out by scoring a remarkable goal in Wednesday’s match, and he could be a threat to the Lilywhites’ defence.
Speaking about the Hungarian star, Sutton warned Tottenham against taking the player lightly in his latest pre-match predictions. As quoted by the BBC, he said:
“They have got some goals in midfield from Dominik Szoboszlai too. I remember Mark Chapman claiming on the Monday Night Club a few weeks ago that Szoboszlai’s size-seven feet mean he hits the ball with a different trajectory.”
“If that’s the case then it’s working, as we saw from his terrific goal against Leicester in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.”
Tottenham should be cautious of Szoboszlai, who is already being considered one of Liverpool’s standout signings of the season.
The 22-year-old has made an impressive start for Liverpool, indicating he could become a future superstar.
Meanwhile, Spurs have made their own excellent addition in the attacking midfield department with James Maddison.
However, the new centre-back pairing of Micky van de Ven and Christian Romero will be ready to face a tough test against the Reds’ in-form players.
The midfield battle will also be crucial to holding dominance in a match that has always been a high-scoring drama.
The Spurs’ fans would be looking for all three points on their home turf, and keeping Scoboszlai quiet would be one way to reach that goal.
