Paul Robinson claims Hugo Lloris deserves a better Tottenham Hotspur ending
Speaking on The Debrief, former Tottenham Hotspur player Paul Robinson believes French World Cup winner Hugo Lloris deserves a better ending after all he has done for the North London club.
Hugo Lloris had been a stalwart for Tottenham for many seasons. Last campaign though, the Frenchman had a hoor show as he suffered for form and fitness and just could not make a save to save his life.
Understandably, a new manager coming in this summer meant that Lloris’ future was in question. Ange Postecoglou quickly made the decision that he had to move on from the Frenchman. In came Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli.
The Italian shot-stopper is having a great start to life in North London. He is definitely better with the ball at his feet than Hugo Lloris was at any point during his illustrious career and perfectly suits the Australian manager’s tactical setup.
In the summer, everyone expected unanimously for Lloris to leave as he was not in the first-team picture under the manager. Surprisingly though, he chose to stay – a decision that is still baffling for many of us.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Paul Robinson had to say about Lloris’ sad Tottenham end
“For me, Hugo Lloris, it looks like his time is done at Tottenham, doesn’t it? But I’m disappointed with the way it has petered to an end. He deserves, not more of a send-off, but more of a respectful ending if this is indeed to be the end for Hugo Lloris.”
Let’s get this straight here. All of us love Hugo Lloris. He has been our captain and leader for many seasons now and has time and again come up with important saves to help us stay in games that we might have lost otherwise.
However, it was very clear that Father Time was catching up with him and the club had a decision to make. They went for the more practical than emotional one and that’s how we have Vicario now.
