Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United to battle it out for Edmond Tapsoba
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.com, Tottenham Hotspur and Premier League rivals Manchester United are set to battle it out for talented defender Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen.
Tapsoba’s name has been something that the Tottenham fans grew accustomed to listening to often over the summer. However, those talks fizzled out once the club signed Micky van de Ven from VFL Wolfsburg.
However, Spurs do not seem to have given up on the 24-year-old defender. It looks like the North London club plans to go back for the talented defender in January as they are still not done improving their defence.

Rightly so, Tottenham are still looking at a centre-back despite signing the Dutchman, Van de Ven. Yes, currently the club have a great starting partnership with the former Bundesliga defender and Cristian Romero but the backup is very ordinary.
Eric Dier clearly is not an option for Ange Postecoglou and someone like Ben Davies is not a natural centre-back. It is very important the club signs a quality defender who can provide competition to the existing names here.
Enter Edmond Tapsoba, a player with immense potential and a frightening ceiling. What he has done for Bayer Leverkusen in the past few seasons is no mean feat and it is well-deserved that he is courting interest from top clubs.
However, as always, life ain’t easy being Tottenham and Manchester United are set to rival us for his signature. Their defence right now is an example of what life would be like for us if Romero or Van de Ven was injured.
It is important that Tottenham try to convince Tapsoba to join the club. The fact that they chose Van de Ven over him in the summer might not sit well with the 24-year-old but that does not stop us from trying.

If not Tapsoba, Tottenham need to look at other options. It is imperative that we sign a centre-back soon. Let’s just wait and see who it is.
