Tottenham star Son Heung-min is in contention to face Luton Town amidst injury concerns
Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to have captain Son Heung-min available amidst injury concerns and he will play for the club this weekend against Luton Town.
The South Korean had to be hooked off in the second half against Liverpool – a game that the Lilywhites eventually won under very controversial circumstances. The club captain was once again instrumental and got the first goal on the night.
Tottenham lost their talisman, Harry Kane in the summer but have not felt his absence one bit. The main reason for this has been how well the South Korean has filled in the number nine role.
Especially coming after arguably his worst season at the N17 since he moved here from Bayer Leverkusen, it would be understandable if a fair number of Tottenham fans had their doubts about his ability to bounce back.
However, as they always say, form is temporary but class is permanent and Son is definitely showing us just that this season. Along with Maddison, the duo have formed such an impressive partnership upfront.
Understandably when Son Heung-min hobbled off against Liverpool, it set the cat among the pigeons for the North London club faithful. Despite carrying an issue, he is expected to continue playing on this weekend.
It is understandable that Tottenham want Son to play against Luton considering the fact that Ivan Perisic, Brennan Johnson and Manor Solomon are all ruled out with injuries. Even Bryan Gil is not ready to return yet.
That said though, we must be wary that playing a not fully fit Son might end up ruling him out for much longer and we cannot afford that. The Tottenham captain is 31 and is not getting any younger, which means injuries would take much longer to recover from.
