Real Madrid are set to rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Santiago Gimenez

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Spanish giants Real Madrid are set to rival Tottenham Hotspur to the signing if talented young 22-year-old striker Santiago Gimenez.

Gimenez’s name has been doing the rounds among the Tottenham circles for quite some time now. The club are constantly on the look out for talented attacking options and the Argentinian is just one of the names on the club’s radar.

Ever since Ange Postecoglou has become the manager on Tottenham, there has been a radical change in transfer policy and the club seem more keen on signing youngsters with high potential whilst also not spending much.

Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Manor Solomon and Brennan Johnson all represent this shift in culture and Postecoglou is a manager who is not afraid to field all these youngsters together. Truth be told, they have not disappointed.

Tottenham saw their talismanic striker Harry Kane leave the club of his heart in the summer and move to German giants Bayern Munich. The club chose not to sign an established number nine and trust Richarlison and Son Heung-min.

Son, who is now the captain of the club has made sure that Tottenham do not feel the absence of the English superstar. However, such an approach is not sustainable on the long run and they need to sign a number nine.

Looking at the names that are being linked like Santiago Gimenez, the club are clearly going for a young number nine with a lot of potential. Lets also not forget that we already have Alejo Veliz at the club.

Santiago Gimenez courting interest from Real Madrid is not good news for Spurs. The Spanish giants have a pull in the transfer market like no other club and generally find a way to get the players they want.
